Sunset by Frederic Edwin Church: This painting was painted in the United States in 1856 AD. It is a picture of a sunset over a lake in a forest like region. This painting makes me feel calm and relaxed. It reminds me of spending weekends in the summer at the beach and watching the sunset over the ocean. It looks very real, like I am looking at a real sunset or at least a photograph of one.
Within this painting I chose was the view of Newport Mountain, Mount Desert. The artist was Frederic Edwin Church, in 1851 AD. Within this painting there is a man trying his hardest to pull a rock out of the water. There are boats in the distance and in the horizon. There are also rocks and a forest behind the man. Within this painting it reminds me of the beach, if it did not have any trees, mostly because of the rocky outlines near the ocean. This painting is creative by the soft colors they used. The painting gives off a calm mood that by the time you look at it you feel a sensation of calmness.
The Desert Rock Lighthouse is a bright painting, with many light brown colors, and very blotchy brushes. The clouds in the sky, the ocean waves, and the rocks that the waves crash onto, all direct one’s attention to the lighthouse which sits in the middle of the painting next to the horizon. It creates a sense of a calm environment, and being at peace. This work is original because of it’s bright, but mild lighting, and it’s ability to invoke peace. With this, the artist shows how the peace of the ocean is extremely calming.

The Desert Rock Lighthouse is a seemingly older painting that illustrates the aggression of the sea along with the rough rocky lands with a lighthouse in the middle. The waves are very aggressive but the land would be a seamen's dream. The sounds of the sea would be very calming and represents the beauty of the sea. The paintings colors range from light to dark colors but the light colors really brighten up the mood of the painting.

This painting seems successful for strength because the waves are crashing around the island and they are huge but the island stands solid and the lighthouse is still standing strong too.

The colors in this photo remind me of the sunset every night when the sky is an assortment of colors ranging from the yellow, orange, and pinkness of the sun to the light grey of the clouds above. Relaxation and peace are two of the many words to describe this photo. This piece of art is not successful because it is an image of a sunset that someone could see any day. This piece of art is not similar to any good or bad images. This image is not the most original, but it does differ from some of the many images of sunsets because of its color scheme and location. The colors are very different from the average image of a yellow sun setting over a crystal blue beach. The location is what makes it original because an image of a sunset is usually located at beach but in this image it is behind mountains as well as over a lake making it more original and different from other pieces of work.
